Privacy Policy

Torn works entirely on your iPhone. There's no account, and we don't run servers — nothing you save, decide or tell Torn about your purchases ever reaches us. This policy explains the few moments your iPhone talks to the internet on your behalf.

Who we are

Torn is made by Bogdan Iliescu (“we”, “us”). For the purposes of data protection law, including the EU and UK GDPR, we are the controller of the limited personal information described here.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you save in Torn is stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone:

  • images you pick from Photos, take with the camera, or share to Torn — kept as a resized copy and a thumbnail
  • links you share, and the title, picture and price Torn reads from those pages
  • the text Torn reads from images, and the details it identifies, such as a title, type, brand, price or retailer
  • your notes, your decisions (still want it, bought, passed, done) and the reasons you give
  • which items you're comparing, and your answers to “Glad you bought it?”
  • your track record and insights, which are calculated on the device from the above
  • your settings, such as your waiting period

When you share something to Torn from another app, the share extension holds it briefly in a folder only Torn and its extension can read, and removes it once the app has imported it.

Reading text from images uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, understanding what you saved uses Apple's on-device model. Live Text is on-device too. None of this is sent to us or to anyone else.

We can't see anything stored on your iPhone. It's included in your iPhone or iCloud backups according to your own iOS backup settings.

When your iPhone goes online for Torn

Torn has no server. Your iPhone connects to the internet for Torn only when you do one of these things, and the request goes straight from your iPhone to the website involved:

What happensWhenWho receives the request
Torn loads the page to read its title, picture and price — the same request Safari makes when you open the link You share a link to Torn, or tap “Check price” or “Analyze again” on a saved link That website, under its own privacy policy
A place's name or address is opened You tap “Open in Maps” Apple Maps, under Apple's Privacy Policy
A web address is opened You tap “Open link” That website, in Safari

Like any web request, the website sees your IP address and a standard description of your device's browser. Torn adds nothing that identifies you, and nothing about what else you've saved.

Reminders

“Still want it?” and “Glad you bought it?” reminders are local notifications. They are scheduled on your iPhone by Torn, using only the items stored there, and never pass through a server. Turn them off in Torn under Settings → Reminders, or in iOS Settings.

Payments

Torn is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription and no payment details of any kind — so there is nothing for us to receive or record.

What Torn never does

  • Require an account or collect your name, email address or phone number
  • Show advertising or include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
  • Earn money from what you buy — no affiliate links, sponsored results or commissions
  • Send what you save to an AI company
  • Track you across other companies' apps or websites
  • Sell or share your personal information, as “sell” and “share” are defined by California law
  • Scan or upload your photo library — only the images you choose are processed
  • Access your location, contacts or microphone

If you've turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings, Apple gives us anonymous crash and performance reports. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Permissions

  • Photos. Torn uses Apple's photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select. Torn doesn't ask for access to your library.
  • Camera. Used only when you tap “Take Photo”. You can turn camera access off in iOS Settings.
  • Notifications. Asked for when you turn on reminders, so Torn can check back on things you saved.

How long information is kept

  • On your iPhone: until you delete an item, use Settings → Clear all data, or delete the app.
  • Emails you send us: kept only as long as needed to help you, and no longer than 12 months.

Because we don't store what you save, there's nothing about your items for us to delete on request — you already control it on your device.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Torn doesn't send us personal information, so the only processing we do is answering messages you send us, based on our legitimate interest in helping you.

California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information, and we won't treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email support@getwellfit.app. We'll reply within one month.

Children

Torn isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics or third-party content. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs — such as IP address, browser type and the page requested — for a short time for security and reliability.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Torn handles information, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change would ever send anything from your iPhone to us or another company, we'll ask you in the app before it happens.

Contact

Questions about privacy go to support@getwellfit.app. If you need a postal address for a formal request, ask by email and we'll provide one.
