What you need

  • iPhone with iOS 26Torn runs on iPhone only.
  • Apple Intelligence (optional)On iPhone 15 Pro and later with Apple Intelligence on, understanding happens on the device.
  • Internet for linksReading a shared link or checking its price needs a connection; everything else works offline.
Saving
How do I save a screenshot or photo?
  1. In the Inbox, tap +.
  2. Tap Choose from Photos (up to 10 at once) or Take Photo.
  3. With one image, Torn suggests a title and type for you to check, then tap Save. With several, they're saved straight to your Inbox.
How do I save from Safari, Instagram, TikTok or a shop's app?

Tap the app's Share button and choose Save to Torn. You can share a link, some text with a link in it, or up to 10 images. Shared items appear in your Inbox the next time you open Torn.

For links, Torn reads the page's title, picture and price. Some shops don't allow that; the item is still saved with the website's name, and you can tap Analyze again later.

Don't see Save to Torn? Scroll to the end of the app row, tap More, then Edit, and add it to your favorites.

Torn didn't understand my image. What now?

When Torn isn't sure, it asks What do you want to do with this? — pick an option or skip. You can always fix the title.

Understanding screenshots uses Apple Intelligence on the device (iPhone 15 Pro and later, with Apple Intelligence on). Without it, Torn saves the image as Unsorted and you tell it what it is — everything else works the same.

Waiting and deciding
When does Torn remind me?

After your waiting period (3, 7 or 14 days — pick in Settings → Reminders) Torn asks Still want it?, and once more after a month. Things you're comparing get one reminder together. Reminders arrive in the early evening.

Not getting them? Check that reminders are on in Torn's Settings and that notifications for Torn are allowed in iOS Settings.

What's the difference between Still want it, Bought it and Pass?
  • Still want itIt moves to “On your list”. Mark it bought or pass on it whenever you're ready.
  • Bought itA month later, Torn asks whether you're glad you bought it.
  • PassYou're not going ahead. Torn asks why, and counts it in your track record.

With three or more items waiting, tap Triage to go through them quickly: swipe right to keep, left to pass. To undo any decision, open the item and tap Move back to inbox.

How do I compare options with Torn between?

Open one of the things you're considering, tap ⋯, then Torn between…, and pick up to three others. They show side by side — price you saw, price now, how long you've wanted each. Tap Choose this on the one you're going with; the others are marked as passed.

How does Check price work?

For something saved from a link, Check price reloads the page and shows today's price next to the one you saw. It's a one-off check when you ask — Torn doesn't monitor prices in the background. If the shop doesn't publish its price in a way Torn can read, it says so.

Your track record
How is “Money not spent” calculated?

It adds up the prices you saw for things you passed on because they were too expensive, you changed your mind, it was just an impulse, or another reason. Passes marked Not right now, Found something better or chosen against in Torn between aren't counted — that money wasn't really saved. Torn uses the currency most of those items share and never adds euros to dollars.

Why don't I see any insights yet?

Insights like “You've regretted 3 of 4 things you bought from tiktok.com” only appear once a pattern rests on at least three decisions or follow-up answers. Torn won't draw conclusions from one or two.

Your data
Where are my items stored?

On your iPhone. There's no Torn account or server. Items are included in your iPhone or iCloud backup, so restoring a backup to a new iPhone brings them back. Torn doesn't sync between devices yet.

For the few times your iPhone goes online for Torn, see the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

To delete one item, open it, tap ⋯, then Delete item. To delete everything, go to Settings → Clear all data. Deleting Torn from your iPhone also removes everything it stored.

Does Torn scan my photo library?

No. Torn only sees the photos you pick, take or share to it.
